Financial Management Branch
The Financial Management Branch (FMB) plans, directs and coordinates the financial management of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). The branch prepares, submits and defends the NHGRI budget to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the President and the Congress. The FMB develops the strategy, the documentation and the briefing materials necessary for presenting NHGRI budget requests to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the OMB and the Congress.
The branch also plays a major role in preparing the director and the deputy director to brief Congress about NHGRI's financial management and responds to questions from Congress and others about the NHGRI's budget.
