Renovation of 1902
The State Dining Room in 1902
Enlarged and redecorated, the State Dining Room of 1902 combined the
classical taste of Charles McKim and the individual preferences of Theodore
Roosevelt. Wallpaper bordered with flowers and festoons gave way to fielded
panels of burl oak. Trophy heads gazed blankly over reproductions of Queen
Anne chairs.
