Description

The Software Technology Support Center (STSC) provides assistance to client organizations on all six phases of adopting Software Configuration Management (SCM) technology, and move upward on Capability Maturity Model (CMM).

Phase I: Preparation and Planning
Create SCM Adoption Plan
Create Risk Management Plan
Identify current and future hardware and software platforms
 
Phase II: Process Definition
Capture organization's SCM process
Develop process model
 
Phase III: Tool Evaluation
Examine the existing resources
Set up the tool evaluation criteria
Select and evaluate two to three tools
Train users to exercise all tools' options
 
Phase IV: Pilot Project Implementation
Provide training on tool, process, and procedures
Define milestones and success criteria
Validate SCM process model, and tool functions
 
Phase V: Roll-Out
Deal with resistance
Define an approach for converting to new tool
 
Phase VI: Process Improvement
Review adoption results
Evaluate current SCM process and procedures to determine what works
