The Education Program of the United States Institute of Peace seeks to address the needs of educators, students, scholars, international affairs practitioners, and the public to understand the complexities of international conflicts and approaches to peace. The Education Program provides scholarships, intensive teaching seminars, research resources, and curriculum materials. In addition, the U.S. Institute of Peace provides grants for educational projects and fellowships that are open to educators and scholars.

 

National Peace Essay Contest
The National Peace Essay Contest is a scholarship competition and curriculum resource for high school students.

Summer Institute for Secondary School Teacher
The Summer Institute is designed to enhance substantive expertise and teaching skills for use by high school social studies teachers.

College & University Faculty Seminars
The Education Program conducts faculty seminars and workshops at a variety of American colleges and universities that are tailored to the needs of professors.

Zones of Conflict
The newest of the Education Program's projects, Zones of Conflict works with faculty within regions that are experiencing or have recently experienced conflict.

Educational and Research Materials
The Institute of Peace provides a variety of materials for both students and educators, many of them for free.

Teaching Guide on International Terrorism: Definitions, Causes, and Responses
In response to recent events at home and around the world, the Institute has developed a teaching guide to assist teachers in helping their students identify and understand terrorism.
