The Research and Studies Program seeks to develop and
disseminate useful knowledge regarding prevention, management, and peaceful
resolution of conflicts. Through small working groups, public meetings,
and published materials, Research and Studies acts as a bridge
between academia and the policy community. Conceptual projects cover
cross-cultural negotiation, coercive diplomacy, civilian-military relations,
human rights implementation, and political violence. Ongoing regional
projects span the globe, but special efforts are underway in three areas:
Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Middle East.
