WASHINGTON
(Oct 13, 2004) -- The Marine Corps is in phase one of a three-phase plan to extend tour lengths for Marines reporting to III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Bases Japan to either a 36-month tour with family members or 24-month tour without families.

CH-53D Accident Investigation Complete
The convening authority for the investigation of the Aug. 13 CH-53D helicopter crash in Ginowan City, which injured its three crew members, announced on Okinawa Oct. 6 that errors by maintenance personnel caused the accident. Extensive safety and maintenance reviews conducted on local CH-53D helicopters immediately following the Aug. 13 crash confirmed that all other aircraft were safe to fly. (Photo by Cpl. Monroe F. (Oct 13, 2004) -- The Kubasaki Samurai defeated the Kubasaki Shogun 27-12 in a turnover- and penalty flag-riddled varsity football game at a muddy Mike Petty Stadium here Oct. 8.
Kubasaki High School has two varsity football squads because there are only two Department of Defense Dependent high schools on Okinawa, and the number of interested students necessitates two teams, according to Altorn Grade, an assistant principle at the school.
