NASP employees directed to report back to work

All NASP employees were directed back to work on Monday, Oct. 4.
The National Museum of Naval Aviation is expected to reopen on Oct. 11. The base, however, will not be open for visitors until that day. All visitors to NAS Pensacola must enter the base through the back gate (off Blue Angel Parkway). Visitation is restricted to the National Museum of Naval Aviation and Barrancas National Cemetery, only. ( more)

I.D. card appointments can now be made online. This will give customers head-of-line service and ease the flow of traffic through the lobby of PSD Pensacola. There are two links that will allow the customer to make, review, or cancel appointments, as necessary. They are:http://www.naspensacola.navy.mil under "Services" or the PSA Atlantic website http://www.psalant.navy.mil.

Critical housing area. Due to Hurricane Ivan, NAS Pensacola, Corry Station, and Saufley Field, have been designated as critical housing areas. Therefore, availability of housing is extremely limited. Personnel are advised not to relocate families until housing has been secured.

Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show 2004. The horrific damages, inconveniences and major setbacks Hurricane Ivan caused residents of Pensacola aren't preventing the Navy's elite Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, from closing the 2004 season with a grand finale performance. The must-see event is scheduled to take place at their annual Homecoming Air Show aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola on November 12th and 13th. Retired Activities Seminar cancelled. The 33rd annual Retired Activities Seminar scheduled for October 16 aboard NAS Pensacola is cancelled. For more information on the Fleet and Family Support Center Retired Activities Office (ROA) sponsored events, call the ROA at (850) 452-5990 ext. 111.

229th Navy Birthday Ball.  229th Navy Birthday Ball. This year's Navy Birthday Ball will be held at the National Museum of Naval Aviation from 6 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 10 (the day before the Veteran’s Day holiday). Navy Ball ticket prices are back down to the 2002 level (for instance from $15 for E4 and below to $35 for 04 and above).  Tickets can be purchased at the Mustin Beach Officers Club, Lighthouse Point Restaurant, Portside Complex, or the ITT office at the Navy Shopping Plaza.  The Flight Time Band and D.J. Connection will provide entertainment. Proper attire for this event is Military Dinner Dress White Jacket or Dress White, and appropriate evening attire for civilians

Volunteer docents are needed to conduct tours at the Command Display Center, Pensacola Lighthouse keepers' quarters. Volunteers can select either two or four hours on Sundays from now until the end of October between noon and 4 p.m. and must be at least 18 years old. For more information, contact the NASP Community Outreach Office at 452-3100, ext. 1241.

Sailor Substitute Examinations. The E6/E5/E4 Substitute Examinations are scheduled to be administered on Oct. 28, 2004, at the Lighthouse Point Restaurant aboard NASP. Sailors need to be in the prescribed uniform of the day, must report to the location no later than 6 a.m., and possess their I.D. card. The exam is expected to commence at 6:30 a.m. For more information, contact PSD Pensacola Educational Services Office at (850) 452-6112.
