More than two years after the conclusion of the Ohrid Framework Agreement that ended the crisis in Macedonia, the country faces challenges. What progress has been made in Macedonia? What challenges remain? On November 24 the Institute's Balkans Working Group sponsored a special public address by Macedonian Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski.
Moderated by Daniel Serwer, director of Peace and Stability Operations at the Institute, the session explored issues such as:
- Is Macedonia a reliable partner for the United States and Europe?
- Can multiethnic democracy in Macedonia achieve stability and sustainability?
- Will Macedonia become a model for resolving ethnic conflict in the Balkans?
- Can Macedonia join the European mainstream, including trans-Atlantic structures?
