SUMMARY: The Administration for Children and Families solicits
applications from local public or private non-profit or local for-profit organizations
that wish to compete for funds which are available to provide Early Head Start
services in the following service area: an
area within Denver County with boundaries on the east by Downing Street; on
the north by I-70; on the west by Sheridan
Boulevard; and on the south by Hampden Avenue, CO (Service Area # EHS-CO-207). Faith-based
organizations are eligible to apply. The Head Start Act authorizes the Secretary
to designate as an Early Head Start agency any local public or private
nonprofit or local for-profit agency within a community. In the remainder of
this document the term "Early Head Start program"
means an Early Head Start program which serves pregnant women and children
from birth to age 3.
The funds available in this competition will be awarded to applicants who compete
for select service areas that are open for competition. The select service
areas that are open for competition are communities that received Early Head
Start grants for five year
project periods. Upon completion of the five year project period, the funds are
recompeted in the service areas where Early Head
Start services are currently being provided. These are the only service areas
open for competition in this Announcement.
The intent of this announcement is to provide for the continuation of services in the service area defined above within Denver

SUMMARY: The Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from local public or private non-profit or local for-profit
organizations that wish to compete for funds which are available to provide Early Head Start services in the following service area: the
entire counties of Beaverhead and Silver Bow, MT (Service Area # EHS-MT-214). Faith-based
organizations are eligible to apply. The Head Start Act authorizes the Secretary
to designate as an Early Head
Start agency any local public or private nonprofit or local for-profit agency
within a community. In the remainder of this document the term "Early Head Start program" means
an Early Head Start program which serves pregnant women and children from birth
to age 3.
The funds available in this competition will be awarded to applicants who compete
for select service areas that are open for competition. The select service
areas that are open for competition are communities that received Early Head
Start grants for five year
project periods. Upon completion of the five year project period, the funds are
recompeted in the service areas where Early Head
Start services are currently being provided. These are the only service areas
open for competition in this Announcement.
The intent of this announcement is to provide for the continuation of services in the service area defined above within Beaverhead
and Silver Bow Counties, MT. Funds in the amount of approximately $446,522 annually
will be available to provide Early Head Start program services to eligible children
and their families.
The current grantee is funded to operate an Early Head Start program until July 31, 2004 in
the above service area. Head Start regulations allow for a variety of program
options and designs. Applicants should propose a design or designs that best
address the
needs of the proposed service area. Applicants have flexibility in determining
the appropriate number of children to be served by the
