Overview of Changes for South Customers
South system customers will see several differences between the South system and Titan. The biggest changes are summarized below. For a more complete list and detailed information about Titan, visit the Titan Transition Web pages.
USERid
|
|
Your Titan USERid is the seven-character combination of your South system account and initials (aaaaiii). South system USERids are your initials only. |
|
|
If your South system initials were valid for multiple accounts, each combination becomes a separate USERid on Titan. |
|
|
On Titan, USERids/RACFids/TSOids are interchangeable. |
Passwords
On the South system passwords are associated with initials. Thus, there is a single password regardless of which account the initials are used with. During this transition period, CIT has linked your South system initials to every related Titan USERid (e.g., aaaaiii, bbbbiii, cccciiii). Thus, on Titan your various USERids will have the same password that you have on the South system. If you change your RACF password on the South system, your RACF password will also be changed for your related USERid(s) on Titan. Logon All access to TSO and WYLBUR on Titan is via full-screen TSO. The hostname to logon to Titan is TN3270.TITAN.NIH.GOV. When you log on to Titan you will be presented with a menu of possible applications. To access TSO or WYLBUR under TSO on Titan, you should select NIHTSO. If you have any logon scripts, they will need to change to reflect the new hostname and logon menu. Disk Data
All disk data is shared between the South system and Titan. Thus, you can access your disk data sets from either system. There is no need to rename or copy any of your disk data. Tapes
Tape data is not shared between the South system and Titan. To access a South tape on Titan you should have CIT move it to Titan. Once a tape has been moved to Titan it is no longer available on the South system.
On Titan, tape data sets must follow the same naming convention that is used for disk data sets (i.e., a “valid” name beginning with a registered USERid.) Any South tape data sets that do not have valid data set names must be renamed at the time you move them to Titan.
Your RACF data set profiles protect your tape data sets as well as your disk data sets.
Titan tapes are owned and charged to the USERid that matches the first seven characters of the first data set on the tape. In order to access any data set on a tape, you must also have access to the first data set on the tape. (We strongly recommend that all data sets on a tape begin with the same USERid.) We strongly recommend (but do not require) that all Titan tape data sets be cataloged. On Titan, you specify an expiration date for a tape data set at the time you create it. When you create a new tape data set your JCL must include an expiration date (EXPDT=) or retention period (RETPD=) parameter on the DD statement to indicate when the data set expires. When all data sets on a tape are expired or deleted, the tape is released. JCL that creates a new tape data set and does NOT include either (EXPDT= or RETPD=) will FAIL. Security
The South system keyword does not exist and has no meaning on Titan. RACF is used to protect all disk and tape data on Titan. Each USERid on Titan has a RACF high-level profile of the form aaaaiii.** already established. By default, the universal access (UACC) of your Titan high-level profile is set to READ, meaning that others can READ but not create, delete or update your data sets. You can change your Titan high-level profile to make your data more secure or less secure than the default. JCL South JOB statements will work on Titan without change. CIT uses software to automatically recognize South system JOB statements and JES2 /* statements, and convert them to execute the jobs in the appropriate Titan job class and at the appropriate time. There are some changes to batch job JCL. CIT has developed a new tool, Enter
TitanPrep (available on South system Wylbur), to scan your South system JCL and identify changes that will be needed to run on Titan. Wylbur
Wylbur is available on Titan with minor changes. To access Wylbur on Titan you must first logon to TSO. From the Command line in ISPF, type TSO WYLBUR. Printing
Box numbers do not change. Some JCL for print options changes. o /*DDOUT and /*JOBOUT are not available o Further information is available on the South Batch & JCL page of the VPS and Remote printers can be used from either the South system or TitanJCL changes are required to make this happen. See the South Printing page of the Titan Transition web site. Be sure to visit and bookmark the Titan Transition Web pages for more information about Titan.
