The
NSDUH Report: Accessing Data From the National Survey on Drug Use
and Health (NSDUH) formerly called the National Household
Survey on Drug Abuse Highlights:
- SAMHSA's National Survey
on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is the primary source of information on the use
of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs by the U.S. civilian, noninstitutionalized
population, aged 12 or older. Data on substance abuse and dependence, mental health
problems, and treatment for substance use and mental health problems also is included.
- Data from the NSDUH may be accessed
through published annual reports of the national and state results and annual
web only detailed tables. Over 600 detailed
tables are produced annually that contain prevalence estimates, estimated
totals, and standard errors for a large variety of substance use and mental health
characteristics grouped by detailed demographic and geographic categories beyond
those included in the national report. Weekly short reports
are also available as well as periodic analytic and
methodology reports on special topics.
- NSDUH public use files for 1990
to 2002 and selected earlier years are available for on-line analysis through
the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA).
