Contact the NSF Information
Center
The NSF Reception and Information Center
provides a "first stop" for inquiries about the National Science Foundation's
programs, offices, staff, and publications. It serves both NSF staff and
visitors.
The Reception and Information Center fields a variety of inquiries
by telephone and by e-mail regarding
NSF program information, NSF vacancy information, NSF staff location,
meeting schedules, and information regarding location of operational
and program guidelines. In many cases, the Center is able to respond
directly with the answer. When they do not have the answer themselves,
the Center serves as a referral service to the relevant NSF Office
or other information resource.
Copies of many NSF publications are available to visitors in an
area adjacent to the Reception Desk.
The Center is located at the main entrance, one block south of
the Ballston-Marymount University Metro Station on the orange
line (N. Stuart Street between Fairfax Drive and Wilson Blvd.),
on the first floor. Their phone number is
703-292-5111; they can also be reached by
email at info@nsf.gov.
TDD users may call 703-292-5090 or 800-281-8749.

FUNDING: WHAT DOES NSF FUND
AND HOW? |
|
The Information Center staff can refer you to an appropriate
NSF staff person or program officer at NSF who can
advise you on how best to approach NSF with your funding
proposal. Before contacting NSF, you may find it helpful
to review one of the following guides to determine
whether your proposal would be appropriate for consideration

HOMEWORK HELP? |
|
In most cases, the NSF is unable to provide assistance
to students looking for help with science and engineering-related
homework or school assignments. We recommend utilizing
one of the many world wide web search engines or asking
your local reference librarian for assistance.
Some interesting links about science, and information
especially for students can be found on our student interests page. Students looking for information
about science and engineering statistics will find
important reference information on the web site of
NSF's Science
Resources Statistics Division. Information about
NSF's history, and NSF's celebration of its 50th anniversary
in the year 2000, can be found by clicking on the
home page link near the footer, or going directly
to the NSF
50th Anniversary web site.
