Buildings Security Overview

On March 1, 2003, the Federal Protective Service (FPS) transitioned to the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Border and Transportation Security Directorate of the Department of Homeland Security.

The mission of FPS is to provide law enforcement and security services to over one million tenants and daily visitors to federally owned and leased facilities nationwide. FPS' protection services focus directly on the interior security of the nation, and require close coordination and intelligence sharing with the investigative functions within ICE. FPS is a full service agency with a comprehensive HAZMAT, WMD, Canine, and emergency response program as well as state-of-the-art communication and dispatch Mega centers.
