Navy sails toward 229th birthday
The Naval Hospital Beaufort's Color Guard marches into position after a morning colors ceremony at the NHB. The color guard raises the flag Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m. Their services are also utilized at funerals and retirement ceremonies.

MCRD/ERR PARRIS ISLAND, S.C.(Oct. 14, 2004) -- The U.S. Navy celebrated its 229th birthday Wednesday. The day may have passed as many others before, but not for long. The Navy will let the celebration begin at its birthday ball at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Depot Lyceum. Full Story

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan(Oct. 12, 2004) -- Two Marines from the All-Marine wrestling team visited Iwakuni looking for new prospects to hopefully join the team next year. Dan Hicks and James Shillow hit the Station mats in their first stop in a trip that will take them to several Marine bases in which they offer clinics and get to look at Marines who may be on the team next year. CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq (Oct.13, 2004) -- They have earned the title of "Fastest Gun in the West." The west end of Camp Fallujah, Iraq, that is. For the nine Marines who operate Gun 5, Battery M, 4th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 1, from Chattanooga, Tenn., as part of Camp Fallujah's Artillery Counter Battery, being the best is all about team work. MarForPac looks to beat last years CFC contributions
Marines have only two more weeks to donate to the Combined Federal Campaign’s annual charity drive. The drive, which supports local, national, and international health, welfare and philanthropic organizations, will be officially closed on Oct. 19.
U.S. Marine Corps Force Pacific is looking to beat last year’s $60,000 in contributions, said Staff Sgt. Roosevelt Walker, the MarForPac CFC representative.
