Definition

The Marine Corps Studies System is the collective term referring to studies and analysis undertaken to provide a greater understanding of issues and alternatives concerning organizations, tactics, doctrine, policies, force plans, strategies, procedures, intelligence, weapon selection and mix, systems programs and resources. The studies support conclusions and recommendations contributing to concepts, planning, programming, budgeting, decision making, acquisitions and policy development.

Purpose

• Independent, objective and unbiased analysis
• Focuses on mid and long-range issues
• Supports the Expeditionary Force Development System (EFDS)
• Provides quantitative and qualitative information to decision-makers
• Produces relevant and timely support to the Operating Forces, both Active & Reserve, and to the Supporting Establishment.
