Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarships (CSEMS) Program

Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarships (CSEMS)

Overview

From 1999 through 2004, the CSEMS program made grants to colleges and universities to support scholarships for academically talented, financially needy students, enabling them to enter the high-technology workforce following completion of an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate-level degree in computer science, computer technology, engineering, engineering technology, or mathematics. Academic institutions applied for awards to support scholarship activities and are responsible for selecting scholarship recipients. There are currently over 400 active projects, some of which plan to operate through at least 2008.

No further proposals are being accepted for the CSEMS program. It is unlikely that the program will hold a competition in fiscal year 2005 and beyond, since the current funding through H-1B visa fees has ended. Any change will be announced on this Web page.

Program Solicitation

The last program solicitation was NSF 04-506: NSF Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarships (CSEMS)--Program Solicitation. It describes the program and contains information about scholarship eligibility requirements.

Contact Information

If they have grant management questions, Principal Investigators of active CSEMS awards should contact the NSF program officer currently listed for their award in the FastLane Project Reports System or the NSF Award Search database.

Students interested in these or other scholarship opportunities should contact their college's or university's Office of Financial Aid, not NSF.
