Delignification of Lignocellulosic Materials with Monoperoxysulfuric Acid

Agency:

Forest Service

Technology Description:

This invention is a method for removing lignin from lignocellulosic materials with acidic aqueous solutions of monoperoxysulfuric acid. This method allows for the production of cellulosic pulps used in papermaking, as well as regenerated cellulose products for use as animal feeds and other products where removal of lignin is required. This method can increase the digestibility of cellulose-based animal feeds, as well as efficiently remove lignin for other uses.
