Abstract:
The invention is a device for disseminating an active biological control of insect pests or monitoring insect populations. The device includes an entrance and gravitational delivery path, placing insects in contact with the biological control. The invention also contains an exit, allowing treated insects to be released into the environment.
The biological control may use microorganisms as insect pathogens, bio-predators, weed pathogens, active microbial cultures, spores, herbicides or markers for population monitoring. Treated insects include any flying or crawling insect such as flies, moths, bees, beetles or roaches. The invention has proved highly effective in field trials.
