See also: US Patent Office Full Record

Patent Number: 5607670
Docket Number: 3394
Serial Number: 8432923
Date Patented: 03/04/1997

Agency:

Agricultural Research Service

Date Issued:

March 4, 1997

Abstract:

The invention involves an organic composition containing two specific acetates that is a highly effective attractant for the male cranberry fruitworm. This composition can be used as a sensitive tool for detecting this pest. By attracting male cranberry fruitworm moths to field traps, the composition can be used to detect, monitor and control this pest. The acetate composition can also be used as a direct control by dispensing it throughout the crop canopy, thereby preventing male cranberry fruitworms from locating and mating with the females.
