See also: US Patent Office Full Record

Patent Number: 5697126
Docket Number: 1594
Serial Number: 8608450
Date Patented: 12/16/1997

Agency:

Agricultural Research Service
Issued:
Dec. 16, 1997

Abstract:
The invention is an apparatus for removing build up of wet sticky fibers and trash material on the grid bar of a lint cleaner in a cotton gin. Currently, lint cleaners must be turned off and a wooden stick is used to clean the grid bars. This is a dangerous and labor-intensive process. The invention uses a sliding scrapper mounted on the grid bar of a lint cleaner for continuous cleaning. The invention is more efficient and eliminates worker exposure to high-speed saw cylinders.
