Date Issued:
December 22, 1998

Abstract:
The invention is a new compound derived from linoleic acid found in soybeans and many agronomically important oilseeds, and can be used as an antifungal agent. This compound, which was produced by microbial transformation, shows promise as an alternative to agents produced by chemical processes or from more costly substrates. The newly isolated microbial strain catalyzing this transformation was identified as Clavibacter sp. ALA2 (Accession No. NRRL B-21660).
