Intergenic Spacer Target Sequence for Detecting and Distinguishing Chlamydia Strains
Technology Description:
The invention is a way to selectively detect all strains, or groups of strains, of the pathogenic bacteria in the family of Chlamydiaceae. Chlamydiaceae have been linked to reproductive, respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and systemic diseases. These pathogens also are associated with conjunctivitis, arthritis and encephalitis in animals. The invention relates to probes and primers that key into either of two specific target regions in the vicinity of the 16S and 23S ribosomal genes.
