Inhibition of Cytokine Production by Polymethoxylated Flavones

Technology Description:

The invention relates to the treatment of any disease or disorder mediated by cytokines (e.g., tumor necrosis alpha). Examples of such diseases are septic shock, cancer, cachexia, chronic rheumatism, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and many other diseases and disorders mediated by cytokines. The invention also relates to a method of inhibiting the production of cytokines, particularly inhibiting the production of tumor necrosis factor alpha in a mammal, including a human. This involves administering an effective amount of a polymethoxylated flavone.
