Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Legal Policy is to plan, develop and coordinate
the implementation of major legal policy initiatives
of high priority to the Department and to the
Administration. OLP also will provide legal advice
and assistance to the Attorney General and to the
Department Components. OLP will function as a focal
point for the development and coordination of
Departmental policy.
Essential to accomplishing the goals of the President,
the Department must assume a proactive leadership role
in developing and implementing legal policy
initiatives. OLP will provide assistance in
generating and developing legal policy ideas and
concepts, utilizing expertise from throughout the
Department, as well as from other parts of the
Executive Branch.
