SunRaster Toolkit
The U.S. Geological Survey's Center for Coastal Geology routinely utilizes a collection of software tools to aid in the processing of video data. These programs are:

djpeg/cjpeg: Decompresses JPEG images into SunRaster format and compresses SunRaster images into JPEG format.

clrmap: Replaces a SunRasterfile colormap with a standard 3 X 256 grayscale colormap.

lohi: Detects the edge where the water meets the shore when no ice is present on the lake.

thresh: Detects the edge where the water meets the shore/ice edge when ice is present on the lake.

overlay: Overlays (x,y) image coordinates from an ASCII file onto a SunRaster image.

coords: Finds the coordinates of any pixels with a particular value and writes them to an ASCII file.

connect: Computes (x,y) coordinates to connect any 2 sets of (x,y) coordinates in an ASCII file (equivalent to a lineto function").

range: Expands any pixel values within a user defined range to fit the entire (0-255) 8-bit range. This function can greatly increase the contrast in an image.

wtrlvl: Accesses the Great Lakes Water Level Data Base (available at this site) and determines the lake level for the image file name(s) supplied on the command line.

planview: Transforms an oblique view image into an overhead, or plan, view (requires a geomtool solution).

transform: Transforms 2D (x,y) coordinates in an ASCII file into 3D (x,y,z) world coordinates (requires a geomtool solution.

rvmlibv2: Library of functions utilized by all the programs listed above and containing many more useful functions.
