U.S. SECRETARY OF COMMERCE DON EVANS WITNESSES THE SIGNING OF BUSINESS AGREEMENTS THAT WILL GROW AMERICAN JOBS
Contracts Promise to Strengthen the
Sino-U.S. Economic Relationship

BEIJING, CHINA Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans today presided over the signings of three U.S.-China business agreements in Beijing.

“These partnerships will grow American jobs and contribute to America’s economic development,” Evans said. “These signings are an example of the strong commercial bonds being forged between the United States and China.”

The President’s Export Council (PEC), a senior advisory group that provides recommendations to President Bush on trade matters joined Secretary Evans for the signing ceremony. The PEC is currently on a fact-finding visit to China and are expected to report their findings to the President upon their return to the United States.

Today’s signings included the following U.S. company business agreements:

United Solar Ovonic, LLC (MI), and Dawson International, Inc. (IL), signed an agreement anticipating the supply and installation of a 300 kW solar photovoltaic lighting system for the Beijing New Capital Museum.

General Electric Company (CT) and the Guangdong Nan-Dian Power Equipment Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the supply of two 500 kV “series compensation systems” to increase the power transfer capability of the China Southern Power Grid Company’s Louping-Baise-Mawo transmission corridor.

Honeywell International Inc. (NJ) signed a global supply agreement with Haier Group to provide Honeywell's environmentally friendly refrigerants and other chemical products to Haier.
