COMMERCE SECRETARY DONALD L. EVANS STATEMENT ON RISE IN U.S.
PERSONAL INCOMES

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans hailed today’s personal income report: “Bigger paychecks mean American workers have more money and more confidence to spend, save and invest in the future. The rise in U.S. personal income is another sign President Bush’s pro-growth policies are working and fueling strong long-term economic trends.”

Note: Personal Income and Spending grew by a strong +0.4% in August. Take home pay was boosted by a solid gain in wages and salaries which increased by nearly $20 billion at an annual rate in August. After tax pay is up more than +10% since President Bush took office.
