San Gabriel Valley Men Sentenced For Conspiring To Traffic In Counterfeit Microsoft Software
Two San Gabriel Valley men have been sentenced to federal prison
after pleading guilty to conspiring to traffic in large quantities of counterfeit
Microsoft software.
Ted Chien, 30, of Rowland Heights, was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison
and was ordered to pay a fine of $7,500 for conspiring to traffic in nearly
$1 million worth of counterfeit Microsoft software. The bogus products included
Windows 98, Windows Office 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition.
Henry Wong, 29, of Hacienda Heights, was sentenced to serve 10 months imprisonment
and to pay a fine of $3,600 for conspiring to traffic in nearly $500,000 worth
of counterfeit Microsoft software.
Both defendants pleaded guilty in early December 2001 to one count of conspiracy,
and both were sentenced yesterday by United States District Judge Ronald S.W.
Lew.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
