San Gabriel Valley Woman Sentenced For Trafficking In Counterfeit Microsoft Computer Programs

 

A Rowland Heights woman has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for her conviction on federal counterfeiting charges for trafficking in counterfeit Microsoft products.

Anna Tzeng, 45, was sentenced Monday by United States District Judge Nora M. Manella. In addition to the prison term of nearly two years, Judge Manella ordered Tzeng to pay Microsoft $356,024 in restitution.

Tzeng was involved in a trafficking scheme that shipped thousands of units of counterfeit Microsoft products that were protected by copyright. The counterfeit products included Microsoft Office 97 Professional Edition, Microsoft Windows 98 Special Edition and Microsoft Office 2000 Professional Edition

During the course of the investigation, authorities seized counterfeit Microsoft products that had a full retail value of as much as $4.5 million.

This case is the result of an ongoing investigation by the United States Customs Service.
