Last October Fuentes' firm attempted to ship bags of "Dowicide," a pesticide, to South America on a passenger jet. One of the bags tore open, releasing fumes, which spurred the evacuation of the plane's passenger compartment. Another shipment of the subtance was found on a vessel bound for South America. The U.S. District Court judge hearing the case also placed Fuentes on 3 years' supervised release. The case was investigated by OIG, the FBI and the Environmental Protection Agency. |
