Summary:Jose Costales Jr. was sentenced to 12-1/2 years in prison plus 3 years'supervised release and was ordered to make $1.3 million in restitution, following his conviction on aircraft-endangerment charges. He was convicted in September in U.S. District Court for the armed robbery of an FAA-certified repair station in Miami, FL; for communicating false information which endangered the safety of an aircraft; for illegally transporting stolen aircraft parts; and for mail and wire fraud. Parts taken in the robberies were later sold, sometimes through two Miami parts and repair firms Costales owned. Also sentenced in the case were Luis and Loid Suarez, each sentenced to 7 years and 3 months' imprisonment and 3 years' supervised release. OIG investigated the case with the FBI, the Metro-Dade County Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
