ADVISORY NOVEMBER
CONFERENCE TO HIGHLIGHT BUSINESS
OPPORTUNITIES IN SERBIA WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) will host a conference in November designed to demonstrate to U.S. companies investment opportunities available to them in Serbia and the surrounding region. At the center of the new South East Europe Free Trade Area, Serbia is uniquely positioned to provide companies access to a market of 60 million people in eight countries. At the conference, Serbian officials will discuss plans to attract investment and privatize state-owned enterprises; U.S. companies will review their investment experiences in the region; opportunities in individual sectors will be outlined; and OPIC and other government agencies will explain programs to support potential American investors.
OPIC’s political risk insurance and financing help U.S. businesses of all sizes invest in more than 150 emerging markets and developing nations worldwide. Over the agency’s 30-year history, OPIC has supported $142 billion worth of investments that have helped developing countries to generate over $11 billion in host-government revenues and create over 673,000 host-country jobs. OPIC projects have also generated $64 billion in U.S. exports and create more than 253,000 American jobs. |
