The Army Reserve: Providing invaluable capabilities, allowing the Army to expand and contract to meet its needs.

The business of maintaining America's strength and protecting citizens' lives is serious business. The Army cannot function effectively without the Army Reserve. The Army Reserve is inextricably linked to the ability of the Army to accomplish its mission.

The Army Reserve is good business. Consider this:

The Army Reserve is a smart and strategic use of taxpayer dollars. These Soldiers perform their duties when and where they are needed and then return to their civilian jobs - off the government payroll.
The cost for 100 Active Duty Soldiers to maintain readiness for a year is approximately seven times greater than that of 100 Army Reserve Soldiers.
The Army Reserve enables the Active Army to operate lighter, more streamlined and, consequently, more efficient and effective.
Army Reserve Soldiers gain valuable on-the-job training each day at their civilian jobs and then bring that expertise to the Army Reserve.
The Army saves over $2 million when mobilizing 1,000 Army Reserve Soldiers compared to mobilizing Active Duty Soldiers.
