The advisor is supporting the Nicaraguan Office of the Attorney General, National Prosecutor, and the Economic Crimes Unit of the National Police by providing instructional aid to prosecutors and police on how to investigate and prosecute corruption cases. The RLA brings expert investigators, federal agents, and federal prosecutors from the United States Government to instruct Nicaraguan officials.

As well, the RLA supports the efforts of the Nicaraguan government to accomplish the goals of anti-corruption agreements such as the Inter-American Convention against Corruption with the OAS (http://www.oas.org/key_issues/eng/GAcorruption.htm) and the Compact to Promote Transparency and Combat Corruption with the G8 (http://www.g8.gc.ca/g8_fight_corr-nicaragua-en.asp). The ultimate goal is helping the Government of Nicaragua build a transparent, ethical, and stable government and judicial system.
