Global Service Updates  
Politics and economics can change global mailing conditions.
Currently, mail from the United States to all countries under normal operating conditions, with these exceptions:
 
Cuba
Guinea Bissau
Iraq
Korea (North)
Lebanon
Liberia
Libya
Mexico
Romania
Somalia
 
Cuba
Service is limited to letters in the usual form, Braille letters for the blind, postcards, and printed matter items sent as Global Airmail or Global Economy (surface) letter-post, International Priority Airmail (IPA), or International Surface Airlift (ISAL) mailings. Parcel post service is not available.

Guinea Bissau
Effective February 14, 2000, partial service was resumed to Guinea-Bissau. Mail service is currently limited to the following items: Air letter-post items including postcards, postal cards, and aerogrammes, Airmail M-bags, Global Airmail parcel post, International Priority Airmail (IPA), Global Express Mail™ (GEM), and Applicable special services. All Global Economy (surface) mail services continue to be suspended.

Iraq
Effective August 21, 2004, the U.S. Postal Service® is resuming most mail services to Iraq. All services will be available with the exception of some Special Services.

Korea (North)
Service is limited to airmail and economy letter-post items, including postcards, postal cards, areogrammes and matter for the blind. All merchandise is prohibited.

Lebanon
All Global Economy (surface) mail services are suspended indefinitely. Service is limited to Global Express Guaranteed® (GXG), Global Airmail letter-post; M-bags; parcel post packages up to a maximum weight of 22 pounds; International Priority Airmail (IPA), and International Surface Air Lift (ISAL) mailings.

Liberia
Mail service is currently limited to the following items:

Airmail letter-post, including postcards, postal cards, and aerogrammes.
Airmail M-bags.
Global Airmail parcel post.
International Priority Airmail (IPA).
Global Express Guaranteed (GXG).
Global Express Mail (EMS)

All economy (surface) mail services continue to be suspended.

Libya
In accordance with Executive Order 12543 of January 7, 1986, merchandise is limited to donations of articles of food, clothing, medicines, and medical supplies that are intended strictly for medical purposes. Airmail letter-post items including post cards, aerogrammes, International Priority Airmail (IPA), and Global Economy (surface) mail items subject to the content restriction continue. International Surface Air Lift (ISAL) service is suspended because transportation is not available.

Effective November 13, 2003, Global Direct - Mexico service is discontinued.

Effective November 13, 2003, Global Express™ Mail (EMS®) service is available to all destinations in Romania. Previously, the only available EMS destination in Romania was Bucharest.
