  • Recent Immigration-Related Legislation

Below are links to chronological lists of recent immigration-related legislation enacted during the 106th Congress (which ended in December 2000), the 107th Congress (which ended in December 2002) and the 108th Congress (which began its two-year term in January 2003).

Information on pending legislation, committee action/reports, and easy access to the Congressional Record is available on Thomas, a reference Website of the Library of Congress.

Often, new legislation requires new regulations or modifications of old ones in order to codify new policies and procedures for implementing the statute. The process for putting these into effect is explained in Making Federal Regulations.
