    I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status 

    Instructions:

    Purpose of Form: To apply for a temporary immigration status granted to eligible nationals of designated countries.
    Number of Pages: 7
    Edition Date: 07/30/04. Prior versions may be used through 9/30/04.

    Spanish, Chinese, Korean versions of Instructions also available.

    Where to File:

    Generally, submit the form to the local office that serves the area where you live.

    If you are from El Salvador, Honduras or Nicaragua, submit your application to the Service Center that serves the area where you live.

    Filing Fee: $50 for first time applicants. There is no application fee for re-registration. An additional fee for biometrics may be required.

    Please consult the "Paying Fees" section of your local office or Service Center page to learn which forms of payment are accepted. Acceptable forms of payment may vary by office.

    Special Instructions:

    If you are applying under the TPS designation for El Salvador, please submit the Form I-821 to the Service Center serving the area where you live. See additional information.

    Effective August 2, 2004, USCIS has changed its requirements for photographs to a standard passport-style photograph. Please see this informational flyer for more details.
