The Margarita S. Studemeister Digital Library in International Confllict Management

The Jeannette Rankin Library Program develops digital resources in support of the research, study, and teaching of international conflict management. Our digital library project includes several resources:

The Peace Agreements collection contains the full text of agreements signed by the major contending parties ending inter- and intra-state conflicts worldwide since 1989.

The Truth Commissions collection contains descriptions of truth commissions and related bodies and a growing collection of full text documents of establishing decrees and final reports.

Annotated Links

Annotated Links pages for Regional Resources and Topical Resources usually include: (a) general resources, (b) government agencies and international organizations, (c) maps and guides, (d) media and news sources, and (e) selected documents containing information pertaining to particular geographical areas or topics. These pages often support the Institute's Special Reports on specific issues. We have also added pages for online journals and online research papers in the field of conflict resolution.

Lists of Links

Lists of Links provide access to the homepages of more than: 120 foreign ministries, 90 international organizations, 260 research centers in international relations, and 70 Internet search engines.

Institute Program Collaboration

In the development of digital resources, the Jeannette Rankin Library Program collaborates with other Institute programs, primarily the Jennings Randolph Fellowship Program, the Research and Studies Program, the Rule of Law Program, the Balkans Initiative, the Religion and Peacemaking Initiative, and the Special Initiative on the Muslim World.

The Jeannette Rankin Library Program also works with the Institute's Grant Program to support projects that enhance access to resources in international conflict management. Over 30 Institute grants totaling nearly $900,000 have supported the production and dissemination of subject bibliographies, bibliographic databases and web pages, and scholar-led library discussion programs that have focused on the problems of managing international conflict through peaceful means.

Together with the Institute's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Services, the Jeannette Rankin Library Program promotes innovative thinking and knowledge about the impact of the global information revolution on international conflict management through the Institute's Virtual Diplomacy Initiative.
