ABOUT National Forest Visitor Maps

National Forest Visitor Maps provide information on recreational uses, trails, roads, streams, lakes, visitor centers, facilities available, campgrounds and picnic areas.  The map also displays color photographs of points of interest and activities.  Each map covers all or part of one national forest, and the scale is generally 1/2 inch per mile (1:126,720).  These maps do not show topography of the land (i.e., the natural features such as mountains, valleys, and plains illustrated through contour lines on the map).

Cost:  $6-$7 each

ABOUT National Forest Wilderness Maps

National Forest Wilderness Maps are topographic maps, which show natural features, such as mountains, valleys, plains, lakes, rivers, and vegetation.  This is done through contour lines depicting elevation gain or loss.  This way you will have a sense about how steep that mountain is that you'll be climbing this weekend!  Each map covers all or part of one wilderness area and the scale is generally 1 inch per mile (1:63,360).

Cost:  $7-$10 each

ABOUT the Adventure Pass in southern California

Who needs to purchase an Adventure Pass?

All Forest visitors will be required to display the Pass in their vehicles when parked on the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres, and San Bernardino National Forests for recreation purposes.

You will not need a Pass when you are traveling through the Forest but not stopping, when you are parked at your residence or at an organization camp/resort, or in an area covered by a site specific use fee.  You won't need a Pass at a site where a fee is already charged (i.e., ski resorts and campgrounds).  If you are uncertain whether or not you need a Pass, please call your local Forest Service Office.

A Pass is not required for people stopping for information at ranger stations, visitor centers and other Forest Service offices, or for off-highway vehicles (OHV) parked on OHV facilities with green sticker registration.

The last Saturday of each month is a Free Day, when Adventure Passes are not required.

All Golden Passports and National Park Passes with Holograms are accepted wherever the Adventure Pass is required.

Cost:

Annual Pass - $30.00
Valid to the end of the month of purchase in the following year. Tip: If bought near the first of the month, the annual Adventure Pass is valid for nearly 13 months. Annual passes are designed to be used as either a rear-view mirror hangtag or as a peel-off bumper sticker.

Second Vehicle - $5.00
One Second Vehicle Pass may be bought by persons holding an annual Adventure Pass. The Second Vehicle Pass is validated for the same month as the Annual Pass. So, it is in the buyers interest to purchase the Second Vehicle Pass in combination with the Annual Pass. Second Vehicle Passes are also designed to be used as either rear-view mirror hangtags or as peel-off bumper stickers.

Daily Pass - $5.00
Daily Passes are designed to be self-validating. They are "scratcher" designed hangtags. Visitors may buy their passes in advance of their trip to the forest. They retain the Daily Pass until they reach their forest destination, where they validate their own pass by scratching-off the appropriate month and date. Daily passes are valid until 10:00 am on the day after validation, which eliminates the need for two daily passes when just camping over night.

ABOUT the Arizona Red Rock Pass

When do you need a Red Rock Pass?

A Red Rock Pass is required for vehicles parking in the Red Rock area on the Coconino National Forest for non-commercial purposes.  If no vehicle is parked, no pass will be required.  Since this is a “use” fee and not a fee for entry to the National Forest, no pass will be required for travel through the Red Rock Area nor for activities that are “incidental” to thru-travel, such as stopping to take a photograph or use a restroom.

All Golden Passports are accepted wherever the Red Rock Pass is required.  However, Golden Passport holders are still required to pay an entrance fee to the following day use sites operated by private permittee:  Banjo Bill, Grasshopper Point, Crescent Moon, and Call O’ The Canyon (West Fork trailhead).  The Red Rock Pass and Golden Passports cover the fee to visit Palatki but it necessary to make a reservation first.  Reservations are only taken in person for up to seven days in advance at the West Gateway Visitor Center at the Sedona Cultural Park.

Your fees remain in Red Rock Country to be used for information and education services, trail and facility repair and maintenance, natural resource protection and restoration, and law enforcement.  The Forest Service, its partners, and the Sedona community thank you for helping: “Pass on your Natural Legacy!”

Cost:

Daily Pass - $5.00
The Daily Pass is valid for the use of Red Rock Country for one day, including Palatki and V Bar V Heritage Sites.  It is not valid for the use of other fee areas, developed campgrounds, or the following day-use sites operated by private permittee:  Banjo Bill, Grasshopper Point, Crescent Moon, and Call O’ The Canyon.

Weekly Pass - $15.00
The Weekly Pass is valid for the use of Red Rock Country for seven consecutive days, including Palatki and V Bar V Heritage Sites.  It is not valid for the use of other fee areas, developed campgrounds, or the following day-use sites operated by private permittee:  Banjo Bill, Grasshopper Point, Crescent Moon, and Call O’ The Canyon.

Annual Pass - $20.00
The Annual Pass is valid for the use of Red Rock Country for twelve consecutive months, including Palatki and V Bar V Heritage Sites.  It is not valid for the use of other fee areas, developed campgrounds, or the following day-use sites operated by private permittee:  Banjo Bill, Grasshopper Point, Crescent Moon, and Call O’ The Canyon.
