MilCon Appropriations Update


The House by a vote of 374 to 0 and the Senate by a voice vote passed the FY05 Military Construction appropriations bill. The bill provides considerable funding for Army and Air National Guard needs as well as eliminating the cap on a popular privatized military housing program. The MilCon appropriations bill also includes a $14.5 billion dollar emergency supplemental for hurricane and drought relief.

FY05 Authorizations Update

In a sudden turn-around, on October 9th both the Senate and House overwhelmingly passed the$445.6 billion FY05 Defense Authorization Act. Conferees were able to resolve contentious issues like BRAC closings, Boeing lease deals and TRICARE. The National Guard received new homeland security powers under Title 32. A more detailed analysis is forthcoming.
