Occupational Dose

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission defines occupational dose as the dose received by a radiation worker during the course of employment, in which the individual's assigned duties involve exposure to radiation and radioactive material from licensed and unlicensed sources of radiation. Occupational dose does not include the dose from background radiation, from any medical procedures, from voluntary participation in medical research programs, or from any activity outside the workplace.

Oxide

A chemical compound in which oxygen is combined with a metal or nonmetal.
