2000 U.S. Gazetteer

In response to user requests, we created a Census 2000 gazetteer of counties, county subdivisions (MCDs/CCDs), places and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) for the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. These files allow you locate a county, county subdivision, incorporated place or Census Designated Place (CDP) by name without having to know the Latitude/Longitude coordinates. These files contained on this Web page were extracted from the Census 2000 Summary File 1 (SF1) DVD with Software Enhancement (Product Id: V1-D00-S1S1-08-US1). For more information about this product refer to the Census Bureau's online catalog, accessible from the Census Bureau Home page.

NOTES:

Before downloading any files from this page, please read FAQ numbers: 16, 20, and 28, as well as the Census Bureau's rationale for creating ZIP Code® Tabulation AreasTM (ZCTAs) for Census 2000.
