Lisa Malone is the Director of External Relations, John F. Kennedy Space Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration. She provides policy guidance, direction and evaluation related to KSC’s overall image, government relations, customer analysis, business development, education, public outreach, media services, guest operations, protocol, and the NASA brand.
In addition, she is responsible for the KSC Visitor Center concession agreement and oversight of the KSC History Program. She also oversees the Center’s Speakers Bureau, traveling exhibits, internal communications, freedom of information requests, and publicly accessed Internet Web sites and programs.
Ms. Malone received the National Space Club’s distinguished Harry Kolcum Memorial News and Communications Award in 2002, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 2001, and numerous other performance awards during her service at NASA. In 1996, she earned the distinction of Certified Public Relations Counselor, and in 1992, she became certified as an Accredited Public Relations Professional, both conferred by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA). She serves on the University of Florida Public Relations Advisory Council.
Ms. Malone joined NASA in May 1984 following graduation from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in communications. She received her master's degree in management from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla., in August 1995.
Born in Mobile, Ala., she now lives on Merritt Island.
