Explore a Clean Energy Future with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

Technologies that can make a world of difference

Renewable energy and energy efficiency are good for homes, communities and the planet. The Visitors Center at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) National Renewable Energy Laboratory showcases technologies that can save energy, improve the environment and lower the cost of energy bills. The building itself is a model for energy-efficient design and takes advantage of the sun for heating and lighting.

Energy exhibits

Visitors of all ages can take a self-guided tour through the interactive exhibit hall and learn about energy from the sun, wind, biomass and other sources of renewable energy. Find out how scientists capture alternative energy resources to produce electricity and fuels. Investigate the future of transportation. Visit several outdoor exhibits for a demonstration of the sun's power as well as energy-conserving strategies for your home that can be implemented today.

Information resources

The DOE public reading room is stocked with current information on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The Visitors Center offers a collection of energy-related videos for on-site viewing. In addition, group programs for most ages are available at no charge. Knowledgeable volunteers are always happy to answer questions and provide assistance.
