Wind turbines use the momentum of moving air to quietly turn large blades that are attached to the shaft of an efficient electric generator.

TVA has constructed a wind power generating site on Buffalo Mountain near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Initially wind power will add about two megawatts of capacity to the TVA power system, but plans are for its share of total green power generation to increase over time.
