SEPTEMBER STREAMFLOWS AND RESERVOIR STORAGE
MOSTLY NORMAL

Out of eight long-term U.S. Geological Survey gaging stations, the monthly mean streamflow for September was normal at six , above normal at one and below normal at one. The stations with normal flow included:
  • Yaak River near Troy
  • Blackfoot River near Bonner
  • Clark Fork at St. Regis
  • Rock Creek below Horse Creek near International boundary
  • Yellowstone River at Corwin Springs
  • Yellowstone River at Billings

The Middle Fork Flathead River near West Glacier had above-normal flow and the Marias River near Shelby was below normal.

Water storage for September at six major hydroelectric reservoirs in Montana remained normal at four and below normal at two. Storage was normal for Canyon Ferry Lake, Lake Koocanusa, Hungry Horse Reservoir and Flathead Lake. Fort Peck and Bighorn Lakes remained below normal.

Water storage for September at four major irrigation reservoirs was normal at two and below normal at two. Lima and Fresno Reservoirs increased storage to normal and Clark Canyon and Gibson Reservoirs remained below normal.
