The Water-Quality Data & Analysis Section was formed to provide water-quality expertise to better serve the needs of the Missouri District's present and future customers. The section began as a small unit of three technicians and one hydrologist in 1993. As the water- quality program grew and expanded to cover the entire State of Missouri, the number of personnel was increased and process-oriented expertise was incorporated into the unit. In 1996, the Water-Quality Data & Analysis Section was officially formed. Presently (2001), the section is composed of five hydrologists, including the supervisor, and seven hydrologic technicians. Duties of the section include maintaining data collection networks and conducting site specific research in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District,  Ft. Leonard Wood Military Reservation, Whiteman Air Force Base, U.S. Army Reserve Command, U.S. Forest Service, City of Springfield, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Missouri Department of Conservation, and the National Park Service. The section conducts several site specific projects throughout the State with specific emphasis on general chemistry, microbiology, and toxicology.
