Description

The museum priorities of the National Leadership Grants encourage:  
1. leadership in the education of lifelong learners in the 21st century
2. innovation in providing public service and meeting community needs
3. widespread and creative use of new technologies
4. model projects to be replicated throughout the field
5. greater public access to museum collections
6. an extended impact of federal dollars through collaborative projects.

Categories of Funding
Advancing Learning Communities supports the development of museum- and library based learning networks and services for people of all ages with a broad variety of learning goals.

Building Digital Resources supports the creation, use, and preservation of digital library and museum collections and of tools to improve the management of digital resources.  

Research and Demonstration supports research in library science and museum services and demonstration projects that test potential solutions to problems in real-world situations.

Partnerships are encouraged, though not required in this program. Partners may include community organizations, institutions and agencies that promote learning, and public media, in addition to libraries, archives, museums, or other cultural heritage organizations.
