History & Activities

The Oak Ridge Reservation Health Effects Subcommittee was created to provide a forum for communication and collaboration between citizens and the agencies that are evaluating public health issues and conducting public health activities at the Oak Ridge Reservation.

The Subcommittee was formed in 1999 under the guidelines and rules of the Federal Advisory Committee Act. Members of the Subcommittee represent diverse interests, backgrounds, and communities. To help ensure citizen participation, meetings of the Subcommittee's work groups are open to the public and anyone may attend and present ideas and opinions.

The Oak Ridge Reservation Health Effects Subcommittee

  • Serves as a citizen advisory group to CDC and ATSDR and provides recommendations on matters related to public health activities and research at the Oak Ridge Reservation.

  • Provides an opportunity for citizens to collaborate with agency staff members and to learn more about the public health assessment process and other public health activities.

  • Helps to prioritize public health issues and community concerns to be evaluated by ATSDR.

Additional information about the Subcommittee's establishment, purpose, membership, and work groups is provided in Appendix A of the By-Laws.

For current activities in which the Subcommittee is working with ATSDR, see ATSDR current activities.
