Clean Boating Campaign Comes to Watts Bar Reservoir

June 23, 2004

Boating supplies and other free gift items along with complimentary boat safety inspections will be offered to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at six public boat ramps around Watts Bar Reservoir.

Sponsored by TVA’s Watts Bar-Clinch Watershed Team, TVA Police, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Keep Roane Beautiful and the Watts Bar Lake Association, the activities are part of the National Clean Boating Campaign.

The campaign is held annually to help increase public awareness of clean boating practices. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Boating is good clean fun. Let’s keep it that way.”

The six locations around Watts Bar are Watts Bar Dam, Spring City Park, Ladd Landing, Roane County Park, Tom Fuller Park and the Hog Pen on River Road.

Tennessee Valley Clean Boater t-shirts will be available to vessel captains that sign pledges to be clean boaters. Boat owners who request a boat safety inspection will receive their choice of a youth life jacket, fire extinguisher or boat cushion, while supplies last.
